Striving for practical, cost-effective solutions from major urban road and bridge contracts to rural projects in the Pacific Islands.
Over the last three to five years, investment in the Roads and Transport segment has seen unprecedented growth, particularly in major urban areas. In response to rapid economic growth and increasing road congestion, domestic and international clients have responded with a range of investment projects with the objectives of adding traffic capacity and, increasingly, improving the performance and trip-carrying capacity of the existing road network.
Our Roads and Transport team has tackled major urban road projects in New Zealand and Australia; extending our skills to undertake rural projects in the Pacific Islands, South East Asia, Africa and Central America.
Our role on major urban projects has varied from being the Independent Technical Expert advisor for the financiers of three multi billion dollar urban tolled motorway projects in Australia to major alliance and design and build contracts for motorway extensions and motorway bridge duplication projects in New Zealand.
Road network performance improvement projects have included performance monitoring, public transport planning as well as design and implementation of ramp metering for the majority Auckland Motorway network. Our commitment to long term road asset protection and network performance management is reflected in our involvement in a ten year maintenance alliance for the Auckland motorway network, which commenced in October 2008.
Through all these projects Beca's Roads and Transport team has developed a reputation for versatility and creativity, and for striving to provide practical and cost effective solutions tailored to meet local environmental, social, economic and regulatory conditions.
We work closely with our clients with the aim of understanding their business needs and translating that understanding into solutions that deliver sustainable benefits and value for money outcomes.
In our projects we are able to provide access to the domestic and international resources and expertise of the Beca group of companies and work with strategic partners to access additional resources or specialist skills. Term contracts, Early Contractor Involvement, Design and Build and Alliance delivery models have all contributed to growing our culture of collaborative working with an overall focus on "best for project" decision making.
Experienced in strategic planning studies, road infrastructure design, construction management, road network asset management and road network performance management, our project teams recognise the importance of delivering value for money outcomes on time and within budgets and in a manner that helps the client to facilitate the management of public, stakeholder and political expectations.
